Authorities have identified the two individuals found dead inside the wheel well of a JetBlue plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in January.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) announced Thursday that “extensive DNA testing” confirmed the victims to be Jeik Aniluz Lusi, 18, and Elvis Borques Castillo, 16.

A JetBlue spokesperson stated that the bodies were discovered on January 6th during a “routine post-flight maintenance inspection” of the aircraft. Both victims were found deceased.

Flight radar data indicates that the plane had arrived at the airport from New York’s JFK International Airport at 11:03 p.m.

BSO confirmed that Airport District deputies responded to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m., and paramedics pronounced the victims dead at the scene.

The cause of death for the two teens has not yet been released, but BSO confirmed that autopsies were conducted.
