Former President Donald Trump, according to liberals, was the supposed “fascist,” who used the military and its troops as props and pawns of his policy agenda.
Yet President Joe Biden is actually turning the U.S. military against American citizens.
Along those lines, for instance, Defense Department Secretary Lloyd Austin has said “enemies lie within our own ranks” in reference to supposed white supremacists in the military – which opens the door for casting broad suspicion against white conservatives in uniform since Austin has refused to define what that term means.
But the military showed recently it could get personal too.
Last week Biden used International Women’s Day to showcase women serving in the military. He noted that the Pentagon was “making good progress designing body armor that fits women properly, tailoring combat uniforms for women, creating maternity flight suits, updating requirements for their hairstyles.”
For News’s Tucker Carlson responded by accusing Biden of “feminizing” the American military, at the expense of protecting our shores from enemies, and making “a mockery of the U.S. military.”
“While China’s military becomes more masculine, as it’s assembled the world’s largest navy, our military needs to become, as Joe Biden says, more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore since men and women no longer exist,” Carlson said in a recent broadcast.
“The bottom line is it’s out of control, and the Pentagon is going along with this,” he added. “Again, this is a mockery of the U.S. military and its core mission, which is winning wars.”
The Pentagon fired back.
Gen. Paul Funk II, commander of the Army’s training and doctrine command, said on Twitter, “Thousands of women serve honorably every day around the globe. They are beacons of freedom and they prove Carlson wrong through determination and dedication. We are fortunate they serve with us.”
Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston, the Army’s senior enlisted soldier, tweeted, said “Women lead our most lethal units with character. They will dominate ANY future battlefield we’re called to fight on. @TuckerCarlson’s words are divisive, don’t reflect our values.”
Liberals, of course, applauded.
Now, some of us are old enough to remember way back to the Trump years, when it was considered evil and un-American to “politicize” the military or to criticize journalists for their criticism of the government, or when it was considered “bullying” and inciting to reference people by name on social media.
With Biden in charge, of course, those rules no longer apply, at least to progressives.
In one poignant example, some troops attacked Carlson and once singled out by some of the people who pay their salaries, subsequently backtracked.
The Twitter account for the II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group tweeted a photo of what appeared to be a female Marine carrying a male one and aimed it at Carlson, saying “what it looks like in today’s armed forces.”
“Get right before you get left, boomer,” the tweet added insultingly.
But once the criticism flowed, the Marine Twitter account expressed second thoughts.
“We are human and we messed up. What was intended as a tweet in support of our female Marines and sisters serving in uniform was clearly not aligned with our standard practices or an appropriate representation of the Marine Corps. We will do better and serve the people,” the unit said.
“We can do better and we will collectively take a knee, review our procedures and get back in the fight. Our focus is to train, fight and win and we have a hard time doing that without your support,” the account added.
Of course, with the way the military is going, they should offer more assurance that when they “collectively take a knee” it won’t be Colin Kaepernick’s style.
