The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring several areas in the Atlantic basin with potential for development, but the chances of formation remain low in the near term.
Northwestern Atlantic: A non-tropical low-pressure system east of North Carolina could acquire subtropical characteristics in the next few days. However, its development potential is limited, with a 10% chance of formation through 48 hours and a 20% chance through 7 days.
Eastern Tropical Atlantic: A broad area of low pressure is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. While some slow development is possible as it drifts northwestward or northward, the formation chances are low at 10% through 48 hours and 20% through 7 days.
Northwestern Caribbean Sea and Southwestern Gulf of Mexico: A tropical wave moving quickly westward over the western Caribbean Sea could develop in a few days after crossing the Yucatan Peninsula. The formation chance is near 0% through 48 hours but increases to 30% through 7 days.

Central Tropical Atlantic: Another tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles is facing unfavorable conditions due to strong upper-level winds. Its development potential is currently limited, with a near 0% chance through 48 hours and a 10% chance through 7 days.
While the overall development potential of these systems remains low, the National Hurricane Center will continue to monitor them closely. It’s important to stay updated on the latest forecasts and advisories, especially if you live in or plan to travel to areas that could be affected.
