Biden DeSantis

As Biden Goes To Bat For LGBT Lobby In Florida, Essential Questions Remain Unanswered

Inflation is at a level unseen in the lifespan of the average American. Violent crime is rampant in the streets of almost every major city. And we’re inching closer to a war with Russia to defend the border of another country, while being unwilling to defend our own.

Despite these issues, the Biden administration finds time to denounce Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his fellow Sunshine State Republicans for trying to stop inappropriate sex talk in classrooms – and lying while they do it.

Yet no one seems interested in asking President Joe Biden or his administration the most fundamental question: Why are they and their allies fighting parents’ rights to determine how their children are educated in schools that taxpayers pay for?

At issue in Florida is a proposed measure that LGBTQ activists have labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

It is actually known as the “Parental Rights in Education” bill. The measure is sponsored by GOP Sen. Dennis Baxley of Lady Lake in the Senate, and in the House by Republican Rep. Joe Harding of Levy County.

The opening text of the bill says that when public school districts change policies affecting students, they must “reinforce the fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding the upbringing and control of their children by requiring school district personnel to encourage a student to discuss issues relating to his or her well-being with his or her parent.” If parents consent, then teachers may talk to their students.

What has the LGBTQ lobby so upset is a provision that says, “A school district may not encourage classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.”

The bill is making its way through the Legislature, including passing a Senate committee on Tuesday.

The White House responded by slamming the bill in a tweet from the official White House account, saying, “Today, conservative politicians in Florida advanced legislation designed to attack LGBTQI+ kids. Instead of making growing up harder for young people, @POTUS is focused on keeping schools open and supporting students’ mental health.”

The lies there, are that Biden’s administration has done nothing to reopen schools, and, until the polls shifted against them, championed masking for kids to appease teachers’ unions, even as the data rolls in that children’s mental health has been severely damaged by masking and remote schooling during the pandemic.

In a separate statement to NBC News on Tuesday, an unnamed White House official added, “Every parent hopes that our leaders will ensure their children’s safety, protection, and freedom. Today, conservative politicians in Florida rejected those basic values by advancing legislation that is designed to target and attack the kids who need support the most — LGBTQI+ students, who are already vulnerable to bullying and violence just for being themselves.”

Biden actually waded into the controversy on Wednesday.

With a tweet from the official @POTUS account, Biden said, “I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve.”

The bill, which Gov. DeSantis supports, intends to stop Florida school districts from actions as witnessed elsewhere as the pandemic has evolved: LGBT teachers openly bragging on social media about discussing their sexuality with their classes, including youngsters in the earliest grades; sexual assaults against girls after policies opened up girls’ restrooms and locker rooms to biological boys who were supposedly transgender; school officials, elected and bureaucratic, declaring that parents have no right to set local education policies.

DeSantis has fought to stop all of that.

But while the liberal media aids the Biden administration, Democrats generally and teachers’ unions in fighting such reforms, some fundamental questions go unanswered.

No one, it seems, wants to ask the president, his administration, Democrats, or the LGBTQ lobby and its allies why it is appropriate for 6 and 7-year-olds to hear about their teachers’ sex lives and tendencies.

Or why it’s appropriate for educators in public schools to aggressively promote a radical social agenda – including ideas such as shutting parents out of medical decisions when a child believes he or she wants to “transition” – that a large swath of the country disagrees with, or at a minimum believes it is parents’ job to teach children about such issues.

Or what plan the administration has for promoting the respect and protection of girls’ privacy and modesty in restrooms and locker rooms, for preventing teachers from normalizing behavior like pedophilia, or even ensuring that educators who exercise their First Amendment right and question such policies can keep their jobs.
