Democratic Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz disclosed on Friday that the Margate Police Department alerted him about a “potential plot” against his life just one day before the election.

Moskowitz shared the alarming details in a post on X, stating that authorities had apprehended a former felon found near his residence carrying a rifle, a suppressor, and body armor.

Moskowitz, who is Jewish, revealed that the suspect had a manifesto containing antisemitic rhetoric and a target list with only one name on it—his own.

“There are many other details that I will not disclose as I do not want to interfere with an ongoing investigation,” Moskowitz said in a statement. “As someone who was appointed to the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, I understand the failures and importance of fixing the protection of our current and future Commander-in-Chief and Vice President.”

He highlighted his previous experience on the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, emphasizing the importance of addressing gaps in security for current and future leaders.

Moskowitz expressed deep concern about the safety of congressional members, particularly when they are in their home districts. “I am deeply worried about congressional member security and the significant lack thereof when we are in the district,” Moskowitz added.

The incident comes as political violence in the United States continues to rise. In July, President-elect Donald Trump sustained an ear injury during an assassination attempt. A second alleged attempt was thwarted in September when authorities arrested a man with a rifle outside one of Trump’s Florida golf courses.

Despite the threat against him, Moskowitz secured reelection to represent Florida’s 23rd Congressional District on Tuesday. He won with 52.4% of the vote, defeating Republican challenger Joe Kaufman, who received 47.6%, according to The New York Times.
