Republican Representative Andy Biggs of Arizona has accused the Democratic Party of exploiting migrant workers under the guise of economic necessity, arguing that the narrative about migrant labor benefiting the economy primarily serves big business interests. Biggs made the comments during an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle” on Friday night.
Biggs dismissed the argument that deporting migrants would harm the American economy, framing it as a misleading narrative designed to keep consumer costs low and profits high for corporations.

“We’ve been actually hearing this for years, that if you deport people, they’re not going to pick your vegetables. Your hamburger at McDonald’s is going to be higher. You’re going to have to clean your hotel room,” Biggs said. “By the way, all these people are exploiting these folks in a way, ostensibly, to keep prices down. But the reality is, they’re making big profits doing it.”
Biggs also questioned the sincerity of sanctuary cities and states that advocate for migrant protections while simultaneously requesting federal financial assistance to manage the associated costs.
“If this is such a great idea, then why are these sanctuary cities and states going to the federal government saying, ‘Oh, by the way, we’re going to need $5 billion to bail us out, and we’re going to deal with everything from education, health care, food costs, cell phones, all this stuff,’” Biggs asked, underscoring what he sees as hypocrisy in their stance.
Biggs pointed to the results of the November 5 elections as evidence of public dissatisfaction with current immigration policies.
“America spoke on November 5 loud and clear, and they said the number one issue is we got to close the border,” Biggs asserted.
President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to prioritize immigration enforcement, vowing mass deportations regardless of cost. In a phone conversation with NBC News last month, Trump said his deportation initiative has “no price tag” and that he plans to launch a major immigration crackdown on his first day in office. The effort will focus on removing individuals in the U.S. illegally, particularly those with criminal backgrounds.

To spearhead these efforts, Trump has appointed Tom Homan, his former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as the new “border czar.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump tasked Homan with managing deportations and bolstering security at land and sea borders.
Biggs’ comments reflect the Republican Party’s intensified focus on immigration as a cornerstone of its policy agenda, contrasting sharply with Democratic calls for migrant protections and sanctuary measures. The debate is poised to dominate political discourse as Trump prepares to take office, with immigration enforcement likely to be a defining issue in his administration.
