Liberals claim comments by former President Donald Trump caused the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol - which some of them also assert was an attempted “insurrection” intended to overthrow the federal government.

Anti-Trump North Dakota Resident Who Fatally Ran Over Teen Gets Just 5 Years In Prison

Here’s one more example of the anti-conservative, two-tiered justice system plaguing America. Last week former Proud Boys national leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio received a 22-year prison sentence for his alleged role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021 — even though he was nowhere near Washington that day.

Here’s one more example of the anti-conservative, two-tiered justice system plaguing America. Last week. former Proud Boys national leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio received a 22-year prison sentence for his alleged role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021 — even though he was nowhere near Washington that day.

On the other hand, a North Dakota man who ran over and killed a conservative teenager who he tried to claim was a right-wing “extremist” will spend just five years behind bars — which was half the maximum sentence the defendant could have received.

Shannon Brandt also received credit for time served, which will reduce his sentence by almost a year.

As the Tampa Free Press previously reported, Brandt pleaded guilty to manslaughter in May in the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson.

A year ago, Brandt claimed he ran over Ellingson with his SUV during a street-dance event because he believed the teenager was part of a “Republican extremist group.” The incident apparently occurred after an argument about politics.

According to the website Trending Politics on Saturday, state Judge Bradley Cruff, who had green-lit the plea deal, strongly considered Brandt’s mental state in handing down his punishment.

Cruff reportedly based much of his reasoning on Brandt’s alleged autism diagnosis. So called experts claimed that affected Brandt’s ability to interpret social situations and drove him to an “exaggerated reaction and response to the confrontation” with Ellingson, Trending Politics noted.

“You didn’t intentionally run him over. I acknowledge that,” the judge told Brandt during his sentencing, according to Trending Politics. “I understand what the experts in this case are saying about how your mind works. And you didn’t intentionally kill Cayler.”

“But he did die,” Cruff continued. “And that’s a result of your alcohol consumption. You recklessly pushed Cayler to the ground with your SUV, you recklessly ran him over, and you recklessly killed him.”

Yet the judge saw fit to give Brandt, who according to prosecutors still didn’t take enough accountability for Ellingson’s death, just five years in prison, including crediting him with a year of time served.

The judge also ignored the desires of the victim’s family, who begged him to toss the plea deal Brandt negotiated and send him to prison for the 10-year maximum.

Ellingson’s mother, Sheri, told the court during the hearing, “Shannon, you took a piece of our family that’s not replaceable. When you chose to take Cayler’s life and happiness you took ours too. You have caused our family endless pain, heartache, sleepless nights. Our days, months, and years will never be the same because of your selfishness.”
