Jay Johnston, a comedian known for his roles in “Anchorman,” “Mr. Show,” and “Bob’s Burgers,” has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Johnston, 55, admitted to participating in the riot and assaulting police officers during the breach. Video footage captured Johnston pushing against officers and assisting other rioters who attacked law enforcement in a tunnel on the Lower West Terrace. He was also seen holding a stolen police shield.
In a plea agreement with prosecutors, Johnston admitted to one felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct in a Capitol building. As part of the plea deal, other charges against him were dropped.
