TAMPA, Fla. – A suspect has been arrested in the carjacking of an emergency vehicle in Tampa last week, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office located Gregorey Brian McGall, 36, Florida at SR-39 and SR-60 where he was apprehended for grand theft auto and a carjacking warrant from Osceola County.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that McGall is from Lakeland. However, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has his current address in Seffner on Hillside Drive.

Upon notification of McGall’s arrest, FHP Troopers added charges stemming from the March 22nd incident which include carjacking, aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

On March 22 at 2:00 AM, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) received reports from an American Medical Response (AMR) Supervisor that he had come upon a pickup truck, later determined to have been stolen, that had crashed on the southbound I-75 exit ramp to westbound I-4.

The supervisor, a 38-year-old Groveland man, encountered one man who immediately fled down the roadway embankment, and then the supervisor encountered a second man standing in the roadway.

Troopers say the man jumped on the side of his AMR Chevy Tahoe and climbed into the vehicle.

The AMR supervisor was able to open the door and escape without injury as the man drove off with the Tahoe.

After carjacking the vehicle, the suspect sideswiped a Nissan Altima along the ramp, resulting in a minor crash.

The suspect continued to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where he was spotted by Hillsborough Sheriff’s Deputies, who gave chase but lost sight of the vehicle.

A short time later, an in-car camera system aboard the Tahoe alerted AMR staff that a crash had occurred at 2:09 AM and had also taken a photo of the suspect in the vehicle.

As a result, the Tahoe was located at 3720 Martin Luther King Boulevard, crashed and abandoned inside a fenced-in grass lot.

McGall was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and is being held on no bond.

Records show that McGall has outstanding warrants for carjacking and a home invasion out of Osceola County.
