ALIQUIPPA, PA. – Tyland Witherspoon, 28, of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty on March 18, 2025, to a federal firearm charge, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced.
Witherspoon admitted to one count of felony possession of a firearm and ammunition before United States District Judge William S. Stickman IV.
According to court documents, on June 19, 2024, Witherspoon, a convicted felon, was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition while alone in a vehicle in the Northview Heights area of Pittsburgh. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Judge Stickman has scheduled sentencing for Witherspoon on July 28, 2025. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. The actual sentence will be determined based on the seriousness of the offense and Witherspoon’s criminal history.
Witherspoon will remain detained until his sentencing.
