Two people were shot, one was killed, on the set of a movie in New Mexico, according to deputies.
Santa Fe County Sheriff deputies responded to Bonanza Creek Ranch movie set of the western film “Rust” on Thursday, when a call came in reporting a shooting on the set.
Deputies say that Halyna Hutchins, 42, director of photography, and Joel Souza, 48, director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by actor Alec Baldwin, 68, producer, and actor.
Hutchins was flown to the University Of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead and Souza was transported to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Juan Rios, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said: “This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”
