An Alabama father, Brandon Kendrick, 32, has been arrested and charged with five counts of capital murder in the deaths of his wife, Kelsey Kendrick, 24, and four children, two of whom were his own.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, July 18th, in West Blocton, Bibb County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the victims, ranging in age from 2 to 9 years old, were found with fatal gunshot wounds. The two children, who were not fathered by Kendrick, were relatives, officials say.

The motive for the horrific crime remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. Special Agents with the ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation are leading the inquiry, and upon completion, the findings will be handed over to Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

“Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing,” the ALEA said in a press release. “Once complete, the findings will be turned over to Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.”

Kendrick is currently being held in the Bibb County Jail without bond. He has not yet obtained legal representation.
