NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – J.W. Mitchell High School briefly went on controlled campus status on Wednesday after the Pasco Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible weapon on campus. The precautionary measure was implemented to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Deputies quickly located the student in question and determined the item in their possession was an airsoft device, not a firearm. Authorities confirmed that there was no safety threat, and normal school operations resumed shortly after the incident.
