Police say two people were struck by lightning Saturday while leaving the Yankees Stadium in Tampa.

Woman, 9-Year-Old Girl Injured By Lightning Strikes At USF Track & Field Event

TAMPA, Fla. - Two people, a 40-year-old woman, and a 9-year-old girl, were injured by lightning strikes in the area at a USF Track & Field event during a weather delay.

TAMPA, Fla. – Two people, a 40-year-old woman, and a 9-year-old girl, were injured by lightning strikes in the area at a USF Track & Field event during a weather delay.

Officials say the incident happened around 9:00 am Saturday.

“The patients were not directly hit by the Lightning that struck a pole in close proximity,” said Tampa Fire Rescue.

Tampa Fire Rescue transported both patients to the hospital in stable condition.
