Adult Living Facility Resident In Brooksville Arrested After Shooting At Facility Bus

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A resident of an adult living facility in Brooksville has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after allegedly shooting at a facility bus.

The incident occurred on December 30th at approximately 4:50 PM at the Hillendale Cares facility.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Mckenzi Finn, 20, became angry when the facility’s bus driver informed him that he could not provide transportation to a store due to a prior commitment to another resident.

Despite staff attempting to find alternative transportation and redirecting Finn to clean his room, Finn later emerged from the garage area with a firearm and fired three shots at the departing bus. The bus driver, who witnessed the shooting, stopped to check for injuries or damage but found none.

Finn fled back into the facility after the shooting. Deputies responded to the scene and took him into custody. A search warrant was executed, leading to the discovery of a firearm hidden in a common-area bathroom ceiling and ammunition in Finn’s bedroom.

Finn, a convicted felon, was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Assault, Discharging a Firearm in Public, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon. He is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a $26,000 bond.
