Florida’s new constitutional-carry law took effect on Saturday, allowing state residents to carry a concealed weapon without a government-issued permit.

The new law is not unique to the Sunshine State. Florida joins at least 20 other states that allow constitutional carry, according to the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, a pro-Second Amendment group.

Liberals, of course, were apoplectic. One left-winger in particular who shot his mouth off to complain about Floirda’s new law probably should have opted to remain silent after he got dragged on Twitter.

On Monday, actor Billy Baldwin shared his thoughts about the implications for Florida.

“It like the Wild West down there now,” Baldwin tweeted.

“Two questions… 1. How soon before innocent people die as a results of this in some domestic, racial, road rage or alcohol related incident? How soon before a child, woman or cop are struck down? Will the first incident occur at a 4th of July BBQ tomorrow?” he wrote.

Then, he added, “2. How many American and Canadian tourists will no longer winter in Florida because they don’t feel safe? How much tourism revenue will Florida lose due to DeSantis’s new ‘Shootout at the O.K. Corral’ law?”

Baldwin’s tweet included an unimaginative graphic of a map of Florida shaped like a pistol.

According to the conservative website Twitchy.com, which compiled some of the responses, Baldwin was quickly reminded about his own family’s history.

His own brother, Alec, actually shot an innocent person to death, ironically while filming a movie about the Wild West. Alec killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021 while filming his movie “Rust,” when he pointed a pistol at her while practicing drawing it from a holster.

Prosecutors initially charged Baldwin with manslaughter, but the charges were dropped in April 2023 when new evidence showed the gun had been modified before Baldwin used it.

Here is a sample of Twitter users who replied to Billy Baldwin on Monday:

“I trust Florida man with a gun more than I trust a Baldwin with a gun, I can tell you that much,” a user called Some Welder wrote.

“Being in Florida is a lot safer than being on a movie set with a Baldwin,” Ultra Grateful Calvin added.

Another user with the handle Freedom noted, “I guess that depends on where your brother is at.”
