BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – An overnight fire completely destroyed a Brooksville home Friday. At 2:48 a.m. Friday, Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) responded to a residential fire at the 8300 block of Oakgren Rd.
HCFES arrived on scene within 3 minutes and found heavy smoke and fire from the home. Based on the fire conditions crews initiated a fire attack from the exterior. Being a seasonal home, the owners of the home live out of the State. There was nobody home at the time of the fire.
The fire was completely under control at 3:08 a.m. The fire caused extensive damage to the home resulting in a total loss. The cause and origin remain unknown and is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
HCFES responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ALS medic units, 2 Battalion Chief, 1 Tender and Fire Corps for a total of 15 personnel.
