A Florida man who had a bad habit of stealing catalytic converters off of folks’ vehicles, is behind bars.
Earlier this week, detectives identified Pedro Ortega-Guzman as a person of interest in recent catalytic converter thefts.
On December 8th, detectives began surveilling Ortega-Guzman and followed him into a business parking lot off of S. Tamiami Trail.
While in the parking lot, they watched Ortega-Guzman go under a vehicle, and attempt to steal a catalytic converter.
Pedro Ortega-Guzman was arrested and charged with Grand Theft.
Detectives also executed a search warrant at Ortega-Guzman’s residence, where they located another catalytic converter.
“I am very proud of our detective’s proactive work that lead to the arrest of this criminal,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “My team is consistently serving the community at the highest level by taking criminals off our streets and putting them behind bars.”
