Tampa: Monday Night Warehouse Fire In East Tampa, No Injuries

TAMPA, FL. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the 3000 block of N. 40th St. at approximately 11:30 pm Monday evening.

Engine 10 was first on the scene and reported a commercial building with smoke showing from the structure.

Due to the size of the building and the contents inside the structure, the incident commander called for a second alarm for more firefighters to assist.

Officials say that a primary and secondary search was completed and there were no occupants in the structure.

Damage inside the structure was minimal due to the sprinkler system that was activated, according to fire officials.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes. There were no injuries to firefighters reported.

“Our fire investigators were on scene and determined the cause of the fire to be an electrical malfunction of cutting tools inside the warehouse,” said Tampa Fire Rescue in a statement.
