Police say that a 15-year-old male student opened fire at a high school north of Detroit on Tuesday and shot up to 9 people.
In a press conference on Tuesday, authorities said that three students were killed in the shooting and six others injured, including a teacher.
Police responded at around 12:55 p.m. to a report of an active shooter at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a suburb north of Detroit.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said that a suspect is in custody and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered.

Several ambulances and dozens of police officers were outside of the high school following the shooting. A medical helicopter from the University of Michigan landed in the school’s parking lot around 2:00 p.m. ET.
