The Marine Corps once looked for a few good men. Now, it’s looking for “diversity.”
America’s smallest, but arguably proudest, military service recently posted a job opening for a “diversity, equity, and inclusion” adviser.
Whoever gets the job will collaborate with the service’s chief diversity officer and the Diversity Review Board to lead “diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts” within the Corps.
The successful candidate would “ensure internal and external communications reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion,” as well as “develop tools and define processes that enable shifting the USMC cultural paradigm for diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
The post pays $144,128 a year, or about seven times that made by the new Marine recruits who would be ordered to fight and die in defense of our country, and twice as much as the officers who would lead them on that mission.
Michael Brendan Dougherty, a columnist for the conservative publication National Review who first reported the job announcement, tweeted, “Our military doesn’t just do it for the money, but the money matters. When we’re paying DEI consultants more than commanding officers we ask to go into battle, and offering illegal immigrants settlements far larger than what a family gets after death in battle, we have a problem.”
But as the Biden administration’s hunt for a “diversity adviser” makes clear, as America’s enemies, especially China, beef up their military capability, President Joe Biden has been committed to fighting a war on behalf of wokeism.
Consider some of the Pentagon’s actions since Biden took over in addition to this Marine Corps announcement:
- Ordered a halt in operations for a day in an effort to have troops reflect on “systemic racism”;
- Pledged to root out “white supremacists” and “domestic terrorists” in the ranks with offering any proof that they actually infest the military;
- Aired a recruiting ad that featured a female soldier who was raised by lesbian mothers and marched in gay pride parades before she marched in military formation;
- Promoted the benefits of retooled uniforms that fit pregnant soldiers;
- Ditched the Trump administration ban on transgender troops serving, and created, as NPR reported, “a process by which they may transition gender while serving,” and developed policies to “support the medical treatment of service members diagnosed with gender dysphoria”
- Declared that climate change was as “equally important” a threat as the increasingly aggressive Chinese military.
As U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, a Pennsylvania Republican, said recently, “The prioritization of a more ‘woke’ and environmentally friendly military over its lethality and readiness should set off alarms for everyone.”
