I 75 Lumber Crash

Florida Highway Patrol: Crash On I-75 Left Highway Covered In Lumber

An early morning crash on I-75 with two tractor-trailers, closed a portion of the highway Tuesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say that two tractor-trailers were traveling southbound on I-75 in the outside lane, north of CR-470. During an attempted lane change, the driver of one truck, a 42-year-old Lecanto man, attempted to pass the second truck, driven by a 32-year-old Orlando man.

Investigators say that the front of the tractor-trailer collided with the trailer towed by the Orlando man, which later came to a controlled stop.

The impact caused the Lecanto man’s truck to rotate and jackknife as it traveled to final rest in the inside lane and
shoulder, during which time its load of lumber detached and spread across all lanes of I-75, north and southbound.

The crash and debris removal closed I-75 for approximately three hours.

Either driver was injured in the crash Tuesday.
