Jussie Smollett

Accused Race-Hoaxer Will Stand Trial On Charge Of Falsely Telling Police Two MAGA Thugs Assaulted Him

Jussie Smollett, the alleged perpetrator of the most sensational of the many Trump-era racist hoaxes, will get his day in court – even though he didn’t want it.

A Chicago judge last week declined the “Empire” actor’s request to dismiss charges against him. The judge, according to media reports, said he would not undo the work of another judge who appointed a special prosecutor to pursue the case.

Barring something unforeseen, the trial begins in late January.

Smollett was originally accused of multiple counts for staging a January 2019 “hate crime.”

Smollett, who is black and gay, claimed that two white men wearing MAGA gear, jumped him in the dead of night in the dead of a brutally cold winter. The suspects not only poured out racial and homophobic slurs on him, Smollett claimed, they also doused him with bleach and hung a noose around his neck.

Chicago police investigated and ultimately that led two brothers, who are black and who had worked with Smollett on his show, to admit the episode was staged.

Yet left-wing Cook County District Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself and a top deputy took over. Smollett’s case was subsequently dropped.

A judge, however, appointed a special prosecutor to look into Smollett’s original case and the way it disappeared. The judge determined that Foxx had no authority to drop the case once she had recused herself.

The special prosecutor revised the case with charges of disorderly conduct against Smollett for the police reports he originally generated.

That is the allegation he is expected to stand trial for next month.

On Friday, Smollett’s lawyer asserted that his case should be dismissed because, under a previous deal with Foxx’s office, he had already forfeited his $10,000 bail and performed community service.

But Judge James Linn responded that he would not overturn the order of the judge who named the special prosecutor and allowed the case to proceed.

It’s believed Smollett devised the scheme to raise his public profile in order to boost his salary.

  1. Has there ever been a REAL case of a racist hate crime against blacks? It seems like all of these “hate crimes” are staged. Maybe we should look into repealing these hate crimes laws since they aren’t necessary.
