CLEARWATER, FL. – Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded overnight to the scene of a crash that claimed the life of a 42-year-old man.
The crash happened at 10:29 p.m. on Bayshore Boulevard near San Mateo Street. Police say the vehicle, a 2010 Volkswagen, went out of control, left the roadway, and crashed into multiple trees.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 42-year-old man, was killed, and his name will not be released until relatives are notified.
Another passenger who was injured was a 33-year-old man who was treated and later released at Bayfront.
The driver, Winston B. Norman, 32, of Safety Harbor, was charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and driving with a license suspended or revoked involving death.
