TAMPA, FL. – A 30-year-old Tampa was struck and killed while walking on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd overnight.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by a 28-year-old Tampa man was traveling eastbound on SR-574, approaching Williams Road.
Troopers say the 30-year-old man was walking in the travel lanes when the car collided with the man, who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver fled the scene and parked his 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor at a nearby Walmart and walked back to the crash site.
FHP Troopers later arrested the driver, Stuart Mikel Cobb, for leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
