Mom Arrested In The Death Of Her Two Daughters Found In Florida Canal

A South Florida mother has been arrested for the deaths of her two daughters whose bodies were found in a canal on June 22nd.

Police said they have arrested Tinessa Hogan, 36, on two counts of first-degree murder and she is currently being held at the Broward County jail.

Destiny Hogan, 9, and Daysha Hogan, 7, bodies were discovered just hours apart in the canal behind a condo complex.

Shortly after 12 pm on June 22, police received a 911 call reporting a body floating in the water close to the condo complex.

Around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, another 911 call came in reporting that a second girl, about the same age, was found dead in the canal, further northwest, Lauderdale Police Lt. Michael Santiago said.

Santiago said the girls are about the same age, pre-teen, between 10 and 13.

Investigators identified the girls’ mother, as a possible person of interest shortly after the incident.

Police said Hogan was offering to baptize people in the canal a day earlier.

Hogan had been taken into custody, but no criminal charges were filed until Tuesday night. Hogan was in hospital care after reports that she had been acting erratically.
