Two Florida Men Become Millionaires On Scratch-Off Games

The Florida Lottery announced that Alain Sierra, of Bradenton and William Day, of St. Petersburg each claimed Scratch-Off top prizes at the Tampa District Office.

Sierra claimed a $1 million top prize playing the $5 GOLD RUSH SUPREME Scratch-Off game and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $880,000.00.

He purchased his winning ticket from Cortez Shell, located at 3612 Cortez Road West in Bradenton. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket. 

Day claimed a $2 million top prize playing the $2,000,000 50X CASHWORD Scratch-Off game and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $1,760,000.00.

He purchased his winning ticket from Winn-Dixie, located at 3327 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North in St. Petersburg. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket. 

The $5 GOLD RUSH SUPREME game launched in January and features more than $199 million in cash prizes, including 24 top prizes of $1 million! The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-3.97.

The $10 game, $2,000,000 50X CASHWORD, launched in December 2020 and features more than $229 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $2 million! The game’s overall odds are 1-in-3.37.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 75 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2019-20.
