FBI informants in the case of the alleged 2020 plot to kidnap Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer purportedly shared a hotel room and smoking weed with a target, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Michigan Court Clears Multiple Recall Petitions Targeting The State’s Democratic Governor

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been a poster child for how awful governance has been in Democratic-run states throughout the pandemic.

The best evidence for this: Newsom must defend his record and COVID hypocrisy against a recall petition signed by nearly 2 million Californians.

But for those keeping score at home, Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer may top Newsom.

Last week, according to the Epoch Times, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that six – yes, six – recall petitions filed against Whitmer may proceed. Meanwhile, a seventh was dismissed, but the court said organizers could correct its faults and resubmit.

The six that went through attack Whitmer’s actions on COVID.

One petition, for example, cites Whitmer’s executive order to close bars and nightclubs to indoor service, while allowing restaurants to remain open. Another mentions her order to keep virus-infected elderly people in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

A third points to Whitmer’s decision to temporarily ban “nonessential” surgeries. A fourth referenced Whitmer’s invoking of emergency powers that were later struck down by the courts.

Mark Fisk, the governor’s spokesman, said she would appeal.

“We plan to appeal this disappointing decision, and we fully intend to beat back these irresponsible partisan attacks against the governor in the courts, on the streets, or at the ballot,” Fisk told local media in Michigan. “This is part of a massive and coordinated attack by Republicans trying to make the governor fail, and our campaign will strenuously oppose these efforts so the governor can keep saving lives, reopening our economy, and creating jobs.”

One might counterargue that Whitmer doesn’t need the Republicans to make her fail.

She was recently photographed at a crowded restaurant table with a dozen people when a state mandate limited such gatherings to just six. She traveled to Florida to visit her elderly father after telling her constituents they shouldn’t leave the state.

A year ago she broke her own rules on social distancing when she participated in a George Floyd protest, and her husband traveled almost 200 miles to their country cottage in violation of her own stay-at-home order.

The recall drive faces an uphill struggle. According to local media, the organizers must gather 1.1 million signatures by July 30.
