Cart-To-Curb Wants to Collect Your Ideas For Its ‘Name That Truck!’ Contest

PLANT CITY, Fla. – What’s big, rumbly, has lights, arms and wheels, lifts and pours garbage, and keeps the City clean? Plant City’s new automated waste collection trucks, rolling into action this summer!

These fascinating vehicles seem like giant transformers, part colossus, part caped crusader. They deserve to have names, so the City of Plant City invites City residents of all ages to enter the Name That Truck! Contest. The deadline for submissions is May 28.

Four prize packages will each include a $50 restaurant gift certificate and other great items. They will be awarded at a City Commission meeting, where the winners also will get to meet the mayor and other commissioners. Plus, the winning names will be printed on the trucks.

Cart-To-Curb, the official name for the City’s new automated waste collection program, already has characters called Carter and Curby whose current truck friends are Carlos, Cathy, and Cedric.

New pals are coming to help with this important job, and it is these new, strong, smart trucks that need names.

Kids are enthralled by garbage trucks. Is it because they’re so big? Seem like living creatures? Make deep, growling noises? Have interesting smells? Pick up and pour stuff? Are predictable, appearing frequently? Have friendly drivers?

There are many reasons to love them so much, and it will be great to hear what fun names our community members come up with for these trucks!

Each entrant should send their truck name suggestion by May 28, along with their own name, age, parent’s name (if entry is from a child), address, phone number and email address to NameThatTruck@PlantCityGov.com or via USPS to Solid Waste Department Name Contest, 1802 Spooner Drive, Plant City, FL 33563.
