19-Year-Old Autistic Man Arrested for Murdering Elderly Man With a Hammer

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – A 19-year-old man with autism was arrested for first-degree murder on Thursday.

According to Police, officers responded to a residence in regards to a deceased elderly man Thursday. The caller was a 19-year-old autistic male that also lived at the residence. The caller advised he did not know how the 69-year-old male died but was adamant the elderly male was dead.

Upon arrival, officers observed a deceased male inside the residence. The male had injuries to the top of his head. The injuries did not appear to be self-inflicted.  Post Miranda, 19-year-old Jacob Young, advised police that he and the victim were engaged in a verbal argument.

Young admitted, that during the argument, he struck the victim in the head with a hammer, and the heYhad killed the victim, so he washed the hammer and hid it under items on the kitchen counter.

Young was arrested for 1st murder and transported to Land O’ Lakes Detention Center without incident.
