Dr. Seuss was canceled. So was conservative scholar Ryan Anderson.
And now, Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo, who authored a bestselling book about his leadership skills – even as we recently learned his staff fudged numbers of nursing home deaths as Cuomo tapped the keyboard – has been shelved.
Crown Publishing, the publisher of the New York Democrat’s “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic,” said it will stop printing the book while state officials investigate his handling of the nursing home stats.
“Pending the ongoing investigation,” Crown rep Gillian Blake told The New York Times, “we have paused active support of ‘American Crisis’ and have no plans to reprint or reissue in paperback.”
Crown had a much different take when the book came out in October. The publisher called it in a statement a “remarkable portrait of leadership during crisis” that was in Cuomo’s “own voice.”
In nearly five months, it has sold almost 46,000 copies, according to The Washington Times – although it still ranks as the No. 1 bestseller under Amazon’s category of “forensic medicine.”
But The New York Times pointed out it had sold just 400 copies for the month ending Feb. 27.
Cuomo is a rarity in contemporary politics: a liberal Democrat who has stoked the ire of the national media.
But the media has focused more intently on Cuomo’s overlapping scandal of sexist and improper behavior toward former aides and acquaintances.
