HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 62-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, both from Lutz, were killed in an early morning crash in Lutz. Troopers say the crash happened around 1:22 AM Sunday morning.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man and woman were traveling eastbound on Van Dyke Road approaching Dale Mabry Highway in a sedan.
An SUV driven by a 43-year-old Tampa woman was traveling southbound on Dale Mabry Highway approaching Van Dyke Road.
At the intersection, the vehicles collided.
Investigators say that the front of the SUV collided with the driver’s side of the sedan. Troopers say both vehicles entered under an ‘unknown traffic signal color’.
The driver and passenger of the sedan suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The 43-year-old Tampa woman sustained no injuries in the crash according to FHP.
Both drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts according to FHP.
