‘Hops and Props’ Manager Arrested and Charged in Manslaughter of a 65-Year-Old Man

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla.- St. Pete Police arrested Darren McFarland, 54, for manslaughter after striking a 65-year-old man earlier this month.

Bruce Senesac, 65, was panhandling in the Hops and Props Bar located at 335 2nd Ave NE St. Pete on February 3, 2021, at 3:24 p.m.

The manager, Darren McFarland, was attempting to remove him from the bar. Witnesses say the McFarland struck Senesac, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the ground.

Police responded and found Senesac unresponsive and he was taken to the hospital. Senesac never regained consciousness and died on February 9, 2021.

McFarland was arrested and charged with manslaughter today, and is being held at Pinellas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
