WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – A 21-year-old woman from Ocoee and a 28-year-old man from Zephyrhills, were both airlifted early Sunday morning after a tire blows out, causing a horrific crash on I-75.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the woman from Ocoee was traveling southbound on I-75, just south of SR-56, in the outside lane when her left front tire blew out and she lost control of the car.
Troopers say that her car went across all southbound lanes and collided with a guardrail on the highway, rotated back onto the freeway, and was struck by the Zephyrhills man, which slammed her car back into the guardrail.
FHP says after the final impact, the woman’s car came back onto the highway and caught fire in the inside center lane of I-75.
Both drivers escaped with serious injuries and were airlifted to an area hospital following the crash.
