ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg woman was arrested early this morning after driving her vehicle into Tampa Bay. At approximately 2:30 a.m., a vehicle traveling east on Central Avenue failed to stop at the intersection of Bayshore Drive NE, continuing directly into the water.
The driver, identified as Cassandra Kaiser, 27, of St. Petersburg, was able to escape the submerged vehicle and swim to the shore unharmed.

Responding officers initiated an investigation into the incident. Following their inquiries and observations, officers determined that Kaiser was operating the vehicle while impaired.Kaiser was subsequently taken into custody and has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
No injuries were reported in the incident, and authorities are currently working to remove the vehicle from the bay. The investigation remains ongoing.
