Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a prominent voice among the accusers of deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has reportedly died by suicide at the age of 41. Her family confirmed the news on Friday, stating she passed away at her farm in Neergabby, Western Australia, where she had resided for several years.
In a statement to NBC News, Giuffre’s family shared their profound grief. “It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia,” they said. “She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.”

Giuffre became a central figure in the legal battles surrounding Epstein, alleging that she was recruited by his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell at the age of 16 to perform sexual acts. Her courageous public accusations before Epstein’s 2019 arrest and subsequent death brought significant attention to the widespread abuse perpetrated by the billionaire.
Her family lauded her bravery, stating, “Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors. In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”
The news of Giuffre’s death comes shortly after a concerning Instagram post on March 30th, where she shared a picture of her bruised face and recounted being involved in a severe car accident. In the post, she claimed doctors had given her only days to live due to kidney renal failure.

“This year has been the worst start to a new year,” Giuffre wrote. “I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology. I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time…”
Giuffre gained further public attention in a December 2019 interview with the BBC, where she detailed her accusations against Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew, alleging she was compelled to have sex with the prince when she was 17. Prince Andrew has consistently denied these allegations. Later that year, Giuffre also tweeted that the FBI had informed her of a “credible death threat.”
The reported suicide of Virginia Roberts Giuffre marks a tragic end for a woman who played a pivotal role in exposing the crimes of a notorious abuser and became an inspiration for many survivors of sexual abuse.
