POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop in Auburndale on Wednesday evening led to the arrest of a Lakeland man wanted on felony charges out of Marion County.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), at approximately 8:40 p.m. on April 23rd, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a bicyclist traveling on US 92 and Old Dixie Highway, west of Auburndale.
The bicyclist was identified as 40-year-old Colin Dixon of Lakeland. During the stop, the deputy conducted a records check and discovered that Dixon had two active outstanding warrants issued by Marion County.

The warrants included a charge of aggravated stalking and a charge of failure to register as a career offender.
The PCSO confirmed that Dixon was subsequently arrested at the scene.
In a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office, they noted that Dixon was “checked-in at Grady Judd’s Bed & Breakfast until his deluxe transportation can be arranged to Ocala,” a humorous reference to the Polk County Jail and his eventual transfer to Marion County authorities.
