A collaborative effort between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has resulted in the arrest of an illegally present Honduran national in Brockton.
Oscar Lopez-Perez, 40, was apprehended on April 16th by officers with ICE Boston and agents from the FBI Boston and the ATF Boston.
Lopez-Perez has a history of repeated violations of U.S. immigration law, having been deported on two previous occasions. He also has a prior conviction for assault and battery and was recently charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor.

According to ICE, Lopez-Perez was initially apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) on May 11, 2008, after illegally entering the United States. He was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge and subsequently released on an order of recognizance. On September 15, 2003, a Department of Justice (DOJ) immigration judge ordered his removal to Honduras.
Lopez-Perez’s interactions with law enforcement continued. On July 13, 2011, he was convicted in Brockton District Court for assault and battery. ICE Boston then arrested him on October 16, 2012, pursuant to his removal order, and he was deported to Honduras on January 4, 2013.
Remarkably, Lopez-Perez illegally reentered the United States again and was apprehended by USBP on May 8, 2013. His prior removal order was reinstated, and he was once more deported to Honduras on May 31, 2013.

Despite these prior deportations, Lopez-Perez illegally reentered the U.S. for a third time on an unknown date and at an unknown location, without inspection, admission, or parole by a U.S. immigration officer. His most recent legal trouble occurred on September 21, 2020, when he was arraigned in Stoughton District Court for operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor and operating negligently.
“Oscar Lopez-Perez has displayed a complete disregard for U.S. immigration laws by illegally reentering the country after being previously deported,” stated Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston. “Additionally, he has presented a significant threat to the residents of Massachusetts. ICE Boston will not tolerate such threats to our New England communities. We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from our neighborhoods.”
Lopez-Perez remains in ICE custody following his recent arrest. This multi-agency operation underscores the ongoing efforts of federal law enforcement to identify and apprehend individuals who violate immigration laws and pose a potential risk to public safety.
