Pasco County Volunteers Shatter Records, Collect Over 23 Tons Of Trash In Annual Cleanup Event

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County witnessed an unprecedented community effort during the 2025 Greatest American Cleanup on March 1st, setting new records for participation and trash collected.

Over a thousand volunteers successfully removed more than 23 tons of litter from public spaces across the county in what organizers are calling one of the largest and most successful cleanup events to date.

Hosted by Keep Pasco Beautiful with corporate funding assistance, the event mobilized 1,027 dedicated residents who fanned out across 50 different locations. Volunteers focused their efforts on cleaning up roadsides, waterways, parks, and other public areas throughout Pasco County.

The results highlight the significant impact of the community’s dedication:

  • 46,560 pounds (23.28 tons) of trash were collected and removed.
  • Cleanup activities spanned 50 locations county-wide.
  • 1,027 volunteers participated in the event.
  • A total of 3,240.5 volunteer hours were logged.
  • The estimated cost-benefit value of the volunteer effort reached $108,524.34.

The success of the annual Greatest American Cleanup relied heavily on collaboration. Keep Pasco Beautiful worked closely with several key partners, including Pasco County Solid Waste, Pasco County Recycling, Pasco County Environmental Compliance, Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, Reworld Pasco, and Tampa Bay Water.
