Aliakbar Mohammad Amin, 24, of Lilburn, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with transmitting interstate threats to harm Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard and her family, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
The criminal complaint, unsealed on April 11, 2025, alleges that Amin sent a series of threatening text messages to DNI Gabbard between March 29 and April 1, 2025. The messages included explicit threats of violence against Gabbard and her husband.

“You and your family are going to die soon,” one message reportedly read. “I will personally do the job if necessary.” Other messages included statements such as, “Death to America means death to America literally, Tulsi is living on borrowed time,” and “The home you two own . . . is a legitimate target and will be hit at a time and place of our choosing.” Amin allegedly concluded one message with, “Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation also uncovered similar threats made by Amin on social media. These included images of firearms pointed at photographs of DNI Gabbard and her husband. During a search of Amin’s residence, federal agents recovered a firearm.
Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating, “Threatening to harm public officials is a criminal act that cannot be excused as political discourse. Our Office, in coordination with our law enforcement partners, will vigorously prosecute individuals who commit these acts of violence.”

Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Atlanta, echoed this sentiment, adding, “The FBI sees all threatening communications as a serious federal offense. We will employ every investigative tool and resource available to identify those responsible and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let this arrest serve as a clear warning: if you engage in this kind of criminal behavior, you will be caught and you will go to prison.”
Amin has been charged with a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c), which pertains to interstate threats. He made his initial appearance in federal court and has been ordered detained pending trial by a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
