A 27-year-old Texas woman was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated with a passenger under 15 years old and endangering a child, after deputies allegedly found a five-month-old baby improperly secured in her vehicle.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) East Montana Patrol Station deputies conducted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes in the 3900 block of Rich Beem Boulevard at approximately 1:28 a.m. on April 6, 2025. The stop was initiated because the vehicle failed to signal a lane change.

The driver identified herself as Ivana Dolores Salazar, 27. She reportedly told deputies she was driving to pick up her newborn baby and deputies observed a clear glass cup containing an unknown red liquid, leading them to suspect she was driving while intoxicated.
Initially, Salazar stated she was alone in the vehicle. However, after deputies arrested her on suspicion of DWI and searched the car, they discovered a five-month-old baby in a rear car seat that was not properly secured.
When confronted about the child, Salazar allegedly became uncooperative and claimed she did not know the baby was in the car.
