Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – A 34-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of W Waters Ave and N Oregon Ave on Thursday.

According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to the scene of the vehicle versus pedestrian crash at approximately 9:09 p.m.

Officers found an adult male, later identified as Tobias Williams, with life-threatening injuries. Williams was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Williams was crossing southbound on W Waters Ave, outside of a designated crosswalk, when he was struck by a gray Jeep traveling eastbound on W Waters Ave.

Police reported that the driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Authorities have stated that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
