Pittsburgh Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Drug And Firearm Charges

Marques Coffey, 21, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court on March 24, 2025, to charges of drug trafficking and firearm possession, announced Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Coffey appeared before Senior United States District Judge David S. Cercone and admitted to two felony counts: possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident on March 4, 2023, in Bellevue, Pennsylvania. Coffey was detained after allegedly breaking the window of a residence’s back door.

Upon his detention, law enforcement discovered Coffey was in possession of fentanyl and a loaded firearm.

Judge Cercone has scheduled Coffey’s sentencing hearing for August 5, 2025. Coffey faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both. The actual sentence will be determined based on the severity of the offenses and Coffey’s criminal history, as outlined by federal sentencing guidelines.

Coffey will remain in detention until his sentencing.

Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
