Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning Sunday to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) after the congresswoman expressed support for a grassroots movement targeting Elon Musk and saying that he should be “taken down.”
“She is an elected public official, so she needs to tread very carefully,” Bondi said during an appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “Nothing will happen to Elon Musk, and we’re going to fight to protect all of the Tesla owners throughout this country.”
Bondi’s comments follow Crockett’s participation in a virtual rally hosted by the Tesla Takedown movement, a coalition critical of Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the new federal agency led by Musk that aims to dismantle large portions of the federal bureaucracy.

The group is organizing more than 500 nationwide demonstrations on March 29, which coincides with Crockett’s birthday.
“On March 29, it’s my birthday, and all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down,” Crockett said during the virtual rally. “I have learned, as I serve on the DOGE Oversight Committee, that there is only one language that the people in charge understand right now, and that language is money.”
Crockett emphasized that her comments were meant to encourage nonviolent financial pressure through boycotts and civil demonstrations. However, Bondi seized on the remarks, calling them irresponsible and hinting at potential legal consequences if protests escalate.
Bondi’s warning came just days after the Department of Justice charged three individuals with allegedly vandalizing Tesla vehicles and charging stations—incidents she has labeled as “domestic terrorism.”

“We are not coming off these charges,” Bondi said Sunday. “We are looking at everything, especially if this is a concerted effort.”
Tesla properties across the country have faced a wave of protests in recent weeks, sparked by anger over Musk’s dual role as a private tech mogul and de facto government official under the Trump administration. While some demonstrations have remained peaceful, others have turned destructive and violent, prompting federal investigations.
“We’re going to make sure every Tesla owner is protected,” she said. “And we’re going to hold accountable anyone who crosses the line.”

Musk, who now leads the Department of Government Efficiency, has become a lightning rod for criticism from Democrats, civil rights groups, and some government watchdogs who argue his sweeping power lacks accountability. Supporters say he is bringing much-needed disruption to an inefficient federal system.
Rep. Crockett has emerged as one of Musk’s most vocal critics on Capitol Hill.
