Two 16-year-old girls who went missing after a paddleboarding excursion in Cedar Key on Monday have been located and are safe.

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) reported that the girls were found cold but otherwise healthy.

Earlier in the day, a search was launched after the girls failed to return from a paddleboarding trip. They were last seen around 4:00 PM, paddling toward Cedar Key from Atsena Otie, sharing a black and white paddleboard.
