Miami Man Cited For Illegal Spearfishing And Undersized Lobster In Florida Keys

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 33-year-old Miami man has been cited for multiple wildlife violations after being caught spearfishing in a prohibited area and possessing an undersized lobster in the Upper Keys.

Eddy Reyes Lara received a mandatory notice to appear in court citation on Sunday.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Marine Deputy Jason Farr observed Lara spearfishing near the Channel Two Bridge at approximately 4:45 PM. The area is a designated no-spearfishing zone.

Upon further investigation, Deputy Farr discovered that Lara was also in possession of an illegally speared barracuda and did not possess a valid Florida fishing license.

Lara was cited for spearfishing in a prohibited area, possessing an undersized lobster, illegally spearing a barracuda, and fishing without a license.
