A Texas man has admitted to a felony charge after he illegally boarded a Delta Airlines flight and hid in a lavatory in an attempt to get a free ride from Salt Lake City to Austin, Texas.

Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, of Leander, Texas, pleaded guilty after being indicted in April 2024.

According to court documents and admissions made during his change of plea hearing, Fleurizard boarded Delta Airlines flight #1683 in March 2024 without a ticket and hid in the aircraft’s lavatory.

Prior to boarding, surveillance footage captured Fleurizard taking photos of multiple passengers’ phones and/or boarding passes without their knowledge in the boarding area. He then used his phone as a boarding pass to board the plane, despite not having purchased a ticket or being authorized to do so.

Fleurizard’s actions caused the flight, which had already pushed back from the gate, to return, where he was met by law enforcement and taken into custody.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.

Acting United States Attorney Felice Viti of the District of Utah made the announcement.

The case was investigated by an FBI Task Force Officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Bryan N. Reeves and Michael Kennedy of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah are prosecuting the case.
