POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 29-year-old man, Gerardo Estrada Ariza, was arrested Tuesday night after a violent confrontation with Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies. Ariza now faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault.
At approximately 11:11 p.m. on March 11th, PCSO deputies responded to a residence in Eagle Lake following reports that Ariza, armed with a knife, was outside a home he was restricted from visiting due to pre-trial release conditions.
Upon the arrival of the first deputy, Ariza refused to cooperate and fled the scene. A physical altercation ensued, with Ariza resisting arrest. He continued to flee and engage in further confrontations with deputies.
“Gerardo ran. Fought. Ran some more. Fought some more. And ran some more,” stated a PCSO release.
