TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa drivers should be aware of significant traffic disruptions as the Tampa Water Department undertakes essential maintenance on the city’s water distribution system. Two separate projects will impact key roadways in the coming days.
Full Closure on South Habana Avenue:
Beginning at 9 a.m. today, March 12, 2025, South Habana Avenue will be completely closed between West Neptune Street and West Aquilla Street. This full road closure is necessary for the Tampa Water Department to conduct crucial maintenance on the water distribution system.
Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes. Barricades and signage will be in place to assist with rerouting traffic. The full closure is expected to remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14.
Weather conditions may affect the work schedule.

Lane Closure on South MacDill Avenue:
UPDATE: The below lane closure of the northbound outer lane on South MacDill Avenue between West Fountain Boulevard and West Parkland Boulevard is canceled.
Simultaneously, the northbound outer lane on South MacDill Avenue will be closed between West Fountain Boulevard and West Parkland Boulevard, also starting at 9 a.m. today. This lane closure is also for water distribution system maintenance.
Flaggers and barricades will be present to manage traffic flow. Drivers are encouraged to consider alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling in the area. This lane closure is expected to remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 17.
As with the Habana Avenue closure, weather conditions may necessitate changes to the work schedule.
