TAMPA, Fla.– Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews battled a significant commercial structure fire at a smoke shop on Sheldon Road early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. on March 9, 2025, HCFR’s 911 dispatch center received a call reporting a fire at 6911 Sheldon Road. First responders arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from the building.

Firefighters immediately entered the structure with hose lines to suppress the blaze. After a rapid search confirmed no occupants were inside, the Incident Commander ordered an evacuation of interior crews and shifted to a defensive firefighting strategy.
Crews successfully brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of the initial 911 call.
Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
